About Dr. Tina
How many of you have experienced motherhood the hard way? Long labour, fussy, never sleeping colicky baby ? I have too.
How many of you were told by your paediatrician that it doesn’t matter if your child skipped a milestone and that baby colic was normal? The truth is that it isn’t true.
My name is Dr. Tina Božičnik and I used to be that kind of pediatrician. Until my daughter taught me everything I know about paediatrics today.
So I am here to reveal what your pediatrician doesn’t know and won’t tell you.
To explain how I got the answers, let me share with you, my story.
It was a sunny October 21st 2015. The day I became a mother to this wonderful, beautiful girl. My daughter was beyond term. The labour was induced and 18 long and painful hours later I managed to deliver my girl.
As a successful paediatrician (Voted paediatrician of the year for three consecutive years and bestowed the Doctor of the year Award 2021), I never thought the rest of the story would happen to me.
The worst moment any mother could go through happened. I was unable to feed my child. At the beginning I thought she was tired and needed to rest, but the struggle continued the next day, and the next and the next. Each feed was more and more painful. The only thing that kept me going was knowing all the benefits of breastfeeding. As a paediatrician with special interest in neonatology I had a lot of knowledge and helped numerous mothers to establish breastfeeding but all of my knowledge failed me in the case of my daughter.
I felt scared. I felt alone. I felt like a fraud. Shouldn’t I know what was going on in babies like her? Soon cases of my patients, where mothers were reporting same problems came to my mind and I now was crushed the same way they must have been after I just gave them the standard answer; that it’s all just a phase and normal.
We were out on a limb for the entire time. She walked at 18 months and never outgrew the problems. In fact they only got worse to the point that she became overly sensitive to certain stimuli. Extremely picky eater, sniffing all the foods before eating. A classic child paediatricians’ would label spoiled. I just wanted her to eat. I felt desperate. Not even unhealthy foods worked. How could I possibly let her down again? Me “the Child Whisperer.” People called me that, because I always seemed to understand the kids.
One day she was examined by a developmental neurologist and something caught my attention: active primitive reflexes. Primitive reflexes are the first part of the brain to develop and should only remain active for the first few months of life. She was one at the time.
What neither our pediatrician, nor I at that time, knew was that retained primitive reflexes are a sign of brain imbalance and can lead to struggles related to disorders like ADHD, OCD, sensory processing disorder, autism and learning disabilities. I believe that nothing in life is random and later that week I learned about the primitive reflex integration method. We started the therapies immediately. Finally a breakthrough. It felt I got all the answers I was searching for as a mother and as a paediatrician. My daughter started making slow but steady progress. In the midst of all that, always oriented to find the root cause of the problem, I learned about functional medicine. It felt like the missing link putting it all together.
Full of hope and motivated like never before I studied. I studied at night when my family was sleeping, to learn more about the effects of retained primitive reflexes and their influence on behavioural issues and through observing the babies and their development developed the Dr. Tina protocol®️. Until something changed the trajectory of my happiness…
My daughter developed OCD. She was 5 at the time.
I was crushed.
The clinical psychologist we saw to confirm the diagnosis told me everything is happening because I was too strict, demanding and overly ambitious parent.
I found myself flailing in the ocean of why is this happening to us? And then I remembered one of my favourite quotes: “We are never given anything we can’t handle.” We’ve come too far to give up now. There is no time to sit back and cry. It is the resilience time. I knew she will be alright, we just need to focus to where we are going.
I knew everything was neurological so I started digging in on the brain development. I bought several neurological books and I couldn’t figure it out until some information on brain development came across which helped me realise that the root cause of all the learning and behavioural issues in childhood was the developmental imbalance between the two hemispheres of the brain. In scientific terms it is called functional disconnection. The cause of this is maturational delay on one side of the brain, that results in speeding up of growth and maturity of the other side, causing the “unevenness” of skills. Kids with learning, behavioural and many mental health issues like dyslexia, autism, ADHD are not delayed in everything, they have exceptional skills in some areas.
Looking into that I established my daughter’s right brain was immature and her left brain overactive. It all made sense.
The left brain is detail oriented. It sees the trees rather than the forest, loves mechanical things, and familiarity. It loves routines and when things go according to the plan, if not anger outbursts and tantrums happen, especially if you try to get kids to do something new or stopping them doing something they are engrossed in. The left brain is naturally obsessive, compulsive and impulsive.
If the right brain is overactive kids end up with overactive negative emotions: sadness, fear, shame. Emotions associated with depression. Depression is in fact decreased activity of the left brain, so is dyslexia, eating and processing disorders.
I build a specifically tailored plan for her to overcome all the deficiencies. After a month of applying her OCD symptoms were completely gone and 2 months later all other symptoms too.
This is what happens if you absolutely have the tools and understanding how to help your child. After seeing such success with my daughter I I started tailoring programs to help parents fast track their success overcoming their child’s struggles and unlock their child’s brilliant potential, no matter where in the world they are.

About Dr. Tina
Through her innovative personalized, patient centered approach she is oriented to find the root cause of the problem and address it. Her methods are a combination of what Dr. Tina used to regain her health and treated her daughter’s problems being overly sensitive to certain stimuli already as a baby. After putting a band aid on the root of her medical problems for years Dr. Tina decided she will regain her health and start curing the cause.
Later she saw that the most common childhood issues like eczema, reflux and baby colic keep coming back because of the same reason and that a lot of health problems or behavioral issues like ADHD, OCD, Sensory processing disorder already start in the earliest childhood and are linked to suboptimal reflex-, sensory- and motor development.
When people don't know what to do anymore, they find hope visiting dr. Tina's clinic.
“It’s just a phase” and “There’s nothing we can do but extinguish the fire of symptoms with medication” is not something you will hear having a conversation with Dr. Tina who always knew she wanted to be a doctor, but had a passion for acting as well. Already as a little girl she would line up all her stuffed animals and pretended she was their pediatrician looking herself into the mirror.
Fussy, Colicky, never sleeping baby
Dr. Tina always says that her daughter taught her everything she knows about pediatrics today. She was devastated that even as a pediatrician she didn’t know how to help her daughter. She was extremly colicky, never sleeping baby with a very low muscular tone, skipping and not reaching some of the milestones at all. But the worst was she had problems breastfeeding, latching on and refused pacifiers or bottle feds that later manifested as a very picky eating habit. Today Dr. Tina always says that the worst feeling she ever went through was the feeling that she wasn’t able to feed her baby.
For the love of her daughter
Soon Dr. Tina started seeing similarities between her daughter’s problems and some of her little patients. Thus she put together a carefully designed program Dr. Tina Protocol®️for such babies and works even when applied to older children facing behavioral issues. Prevention is the best medication according to Dr. Tina.

Dr. Tina is truly one of a kind! An amazing doctor who tackles diseases currently deemed "incurable" by the majority of the medical establishment. When my baby daughter developed eczema, all the advice I received from my chosen paediatrician was that I can use strong medication to calm the symptoms whenever they become too severe and that nothing else can be done. It might subside on its own, they said. Fortunately, I stumbled upon Tina's amazing Instagram account and immediately signed up for a consultation. It was by far the best decision I made regarding my daughter's health, because not only had Tina helped me to vastly improve my daughter's eczema in a matter of weeks, she has advised me on many other topics related to health from a holistic, naturopathic and functional medicine perspective. Finally, apart from being extremely knowledgeable and educated, Tina is also kind, energetic and truly cares! You can confidently put your and your children's health into her arms and rest assured that she will take the best care of it by focusing on prevention and root causes of the disease. Thank you, Tina, keep up the great work, there should be more doctors like that.

Dr. Tina is a true visionary not only when it comes to early childhood development but childhood developmental disorders, such as OCD, ADHD, Sensory processing disorder and Autism in particular. Dr. Tina Bozicnik manages to unravel the seemingly unsolvable mysteries of babies with hypotonia (low muscular tone), baby colic and babies who have problems sleeping, as well as unlocks any older child‘s inner potential by balancing and improving brain function. She is compassionate and full of wisdom. I wish every struggling parent would have the opportunity to work with Dr. Tina personally.
